Job Title: Scrum Master
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

We are seeking a Scrum Master to join our team.
This role will involve leading Agile delivery teams, facilitating Scrum and SAFe ceremonies, removing delivery impediments, coaching teams on Agile best practices, and driving continuous improvement across software development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Azure DevOps, Agile project delivery, DevOps practices, and software development lifecycle methodologies. The successful candidate will be passionate about Agile transformation, team empowerment, delivery excellence, and continuous process improvement.
Job Description:
The Scrum Master will serve as a servant leader and Agile coach for software development teams, ensuring Agile principles and frameworks are effectively implemented to maximize team productivity and delivery outcomes. This role requires strong expertise in Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Azure DevOps, stakeholder management, and software development processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with Product Owners, development teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to facilitate Agile ceremonies, manage delivery risks, remove impediments, and drive successful project execution. The Scrum Master will also monitor team performance, promote continuous improvement, and help foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Agile delivery processes using Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks.
Lead and organize daily standups, sprint planning sessions, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement sessions, and SAFe events.
Ensure Agile principles, values, and best practices are consistently followed by delivery teams.
Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
Identify, track, escalate, and remove delivery impediments affecting team performance.
Monitor sprint and release progress to ensure delivery commitments are achieved.
Partner with Product Owners to manage and prioritize product backlogs.
Facilitate user story refinement, estimation, and sprint planning activities.
Support Agile release planning and dependency management across teams.
Develop, analyze, and present Agile delivery metrics and performance reports.
Monitor team health, velocity, capacity, and overall effectiveness.
Collaborate with leadership to improve Agile maturity and organizational effectiveness.
Assist teams in managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
Promote DevOps and Agile delivery practices to accelerate software delivery.
Ensure alignment between project objectives, sprint goals, and business priorities.
Foster collaboration, transparency, accountability, and team engagement.
Required Skills & Experience:
8 10 years of experience as a Scrum Master supporting software development projects.
5+ years of experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and Agile delivery processes.
5+ years of experience working within Agile software development environments.
4+ years of experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) for Agile planning, tracking, and reporting.
4+ years of experience with Kanban and SAFe frameworks.
4+ years of experience supporting DevOps and Agile delivery initiatives.
Strong knowledge of Scrum artifacts including user stories, backlog refinement, definition of done, sprint planning, and automated testing practices.
Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
Experience monitoring sprint progress, release planning, and delivery performance metrics.
Experience managing risks, dependencies, and impediments across multiple teams.
Strong understanding of Agile reporting, dashboards, and project tracking tools.
Experience using Agile Project Management tools such as Azure DevOps and Jira.
Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate effectively with technical teams.
Strong conflict resolution, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Essential Skills:
Expertise in Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.
Azure DevOps (ADO) administration and reporting experience.
Agile coaching and servant leadership capabilities.
Sprint planning, backlog management, and release coordination expertise.
Team performance monitoring and continuous improvement leadership.
DevOps awareness and Agile delivery optimization experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field.
Experience leading Agile teams in enterprise software development environments.
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Agilist (SA), PMI-ACP, or equivalent Agile certification.
Experience supporting large-scale Agile transformation initiatives.
Experience working in DevOps-enabled environments.
Knowledge of enterprise delivery governance and Agile portfolio management.
