Job Description

This role supports a high-volume production manufacturing environment focused on plastic extrusion and related operations. You will oversee the production of plastic parts, monitor machinery, and ensure that all parts are produced, organized, and documented accurately. The position requires frequent measuring, quality checks, and physical tasks such as lifting, stacking, and palletizing parts, while maintaining a clean and efficient work area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of plastic parts on the manufacturing line and ensure consistent output throughout the shift.
  • Monitor machinery during operation, promptly identify basic issues, and keep parts organized as they are produced.
  • Legibly write and record order and production information, ensuring accurate tracking of what is running and what has been completed.
  • Pull part tickets as needed based on current and previous production runs, and ensure correct parts and orders are processed.
  • Stack, organize, and palletize finished parts safely and efficiently for storage or shipment.
  • Use rulers, tape measures, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Perform hourly or as-needed quality checks on parts, identifying defects and taking appropriate action to maintain quality standards.
  • Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted multiple times per shift.
  • Walk up and down stairs, including loading hoppers via a short set of stairs, as part of routine production tasks.
  • Assist with line setup, basic cleaning, and general production duties to keep the work area safe, organized, and efficient.
  • Work independently or as part of a team while staying on task and meeting production and quality expectations.
  • Support extrusion, extrusion operation, or fabrication operation as assigned based on production needs.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for production and quality checks.
  • Comfort lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted multiple times per shift.
  • Ability to perform frequent quality checks and maintain consistent attention to detail.
  • Experience with general production, assembly, packaging, and production line work.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team while staying focused on assigned tasks.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to pass a math, ruler, and measuring test with a score of 90% or higher.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Experience with plastic extrusion or injection molding environments is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools is helpful.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools used in general labor and production settings.
  • Experience with quality checks, quality control, inspection, and line setup.
  • Experience in warehouse packing, cleaning, and general labor tasks.
  • Experience in extrusion, assembly line, heavy lifting, line assembly, and machine operation is advantageous.

Work Environment

This position is based in a plastic extrusion facility, where experience with injection molding is also valuable. The plant floor is older but kept very clean, and the facility has recently expanded to include additional extrusion lines and a larger warehouse and parts staging area. You may work in extrusion, extrusion operation, or fabrication operation depending on production needs. The operation runs multiple shifts with typical schedules of 6:45am–3:15pm for first shift, 2:45pm–11:15pm for second shift, and 10:45pm–7:15am for third shift. The work involves standing, walking, climbing a short set of stairs to load hoppers, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted. You will regularly use rulers, tape measures, calipers, gauges, and hand and power tools in a fast-paced production environment. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the dress code to ensure safety on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
