Job Description

Blue Chip Talent , in partnership with a defense manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Prototype Shop Assembly Technician . This role is responsible for assembling complex prototype vehicle systems, supporting engineering build activities, and contributing to design and assembly improvements. You’ll play a key role in bringing advanced vehicle platforms from concept to reality.

Job Duties

• Assemble prototype vehicles and subsystems, including chassis, drivetrain, turret, and armor components
• Perform mechanical assembly of heavy vehicle systems and powertrain components
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and build instructions to execute assemblies
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support prototype development and integration
• Identify and recommend improvements to assembly processes and product design
• Maintain a safe working environment while performing all assembly operations
• Operate shop equipment and tools required for heavy assembly tasks

Skills & Experience

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in prototype or heavy vehicle assembly
• Experience assembling mechanical systems such as chassis, drivetrain, or power systems
• Diesel engine mechanic experience or equivalent heavy equipment background
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly documentation
• High School Diploma or GED

Desired:

• Experience with military vehicle assembly or modification
• Welding experience with steel and/or aluminum (certification preferred)
• Certifications such as ASE Mechanic License, CDL, or similar
• Experience operating fork trucks, cranes, or shop equipment
• Experience with surface preparation and spray painting
• Familiarity with operation or testing of heavy or military vehicles
